For those of you who are new to this page, here is a photograph of the Stiletto snake (Atractaspis bibronii) – the nemesis of many a snake catcher. Their hangs are massive and rotate, making it impossible to safely handle or catch this snake by hand. Its venom is potently cytotoxic causing severe pain and swelling that is usually followed by necrosis and in many cases the loss of a digit. Be careful and do not pick up snakes that have not been positively identified.
